
Reticular Veins
Reticular veins are dilated bluish veins usually from 1 mm in diameter to less than 3 mm in diameter. They are usually tortuous.This excludes normal visible veins in people with thin, transparent skin. Synonyms include”blue veins," subdermal veins” and “venulectasis”
Can spider and reticular veins cause symptoms?
These veins are often a cosmetic concern. The dilated small cutaneous veins have been shown to be present in 25% in women and 6%v of men with an increasing incidence of age. Although a majority of patients are asymptomatic, symptoms include leg heaviness, swelling , restless legs and fatigue develop in up to 39% of patients with women more commonly affected. Due to venous insufficiency of either the deep or superficial system you must consult with your Vein Specialist to prevent further developing of these veins.
